Dissatisfied with your life, career, relationships? Consider this:

The grass is greener where you water it.

Read that again.

People say the grass is greener on the other side… I say to hell with that.

The fact of the matter is… it’s simply not true.

Take a step back and analyze the factors and areas of your life where you look at others and are jealous, or envious, of what they have.

Whether that’s their career, their relationships, their health, fitness, mentality, or headspace.

Look at these aspects and ask yourself have you been watering them?

Have you been investing in them?

Is your health not where you like it to be?

Does your relationship suck?

Are you not on your desired career trajectory?

….

Well… Have you been watering these?

Have you been investing time and energy into these elements of your life?

Because if not, no wonder people are living the lives that you want while you aren’t. They’re actively, intentionally, investing in them.

The grass isn’t greener on the other side, the grass is greener where you water it.

Period.

….

The biggest difference between these two separate approaches is that one places you in a position where you are lacking. It’s disempowering. While the other takes full complete and absolute ownership of it, putting either your success or failure entirely into your own two hands.

So next time you look out at others and are jealous of what they have, ask yourself…

Are you watering your grass?

Or are you simply looking at someone else’s green lawn wishing it was yours, even though you will never obtain it because you won’t pick up the f*cking hose and water it yourself?

I’ve been on both sides of this equation and neither side is easy.

On one side, you’re miserable as you spend your days looking out at others, wanting what they have, but not possessing it.

And on the other side… a mountain of work.

Investing time and energy into relationships, careers, yourself, can be extremely taxing.

It can be daunting, scary, seeing the mountain in front of you and knowing you have to conquer it.

Knowing where you are right now is so far from where you want to be.

But I promise you…

This work — this journey — that you are about to embark on will be some of the most rewarding work you will ever engage in.

And what other option do you have?
