Be Embarrassingly Unembarrassed
We all have them, those moments when something happens outside of the norms of day-to-day life, or when we mess up in a particularly spectacular way. And then you feel it: the blood rushing to your cheeks, the instantaneous heat that comes over your body, and the urge to remove yourself from the scenario.
I am no stranger to embarrassment. As a matter of fact, I would say that I am easily one of the more embarrassing people I have ever met. This is primarily due to my willingness to look a fool, to expose myself, and to try new things.
But the question I pose here is, why do we get embarrassed when we know there is no reason? Why do some of us so quickly turn red and blush?
I think the answer lies in our desire to be accepted, to fit in, and not be an outlier. But it’s the outliers that reach the highest levels of success. It’s the outliers who achieve more than the rest, which produce more than everyone else, and goes where no one else has gone.
So my admission to you is not to be embarrassed. Next time something happens that others deem embarrassing, hold your head high, keep your shoulders back, and don’t falter. You are on the path to discover.
