30-Day Challenge

We’ve all been there: that moment after an inspirational speech, event, or interaction. That moment you’re inspired and fired up to do something life-changing, to make an impact on the world, or to improve.

For me, it’s after this particular Joe Rogan Motivational video when I feel my blood rising and my imagination racing. It gets me fired up. Every time.

No seriously, I mean: Every. Single. Time.

I’ve watched it at least 100 times, usually while I’m working out or driving. It’s just running, constantly fueling my brain and my imagination. Yet, most of the time, the instant I leave that environment or scenario, I forget what it is that I was going to do. I lose that inspiration, and I never make any changes.

So, today, without watching anything to get me fired up — so this is purely a logical thought — I am going to start a 30-day challenge of working out every single day.

This is something that I know I need to do, but that I haven’t been making time for. I have been giving myself easy outs; “It’s too cold,” or “I’ll start tomorrow” have been my favorite so far. And so I have fallen off the path. I’ve become lazy and undisciplined in this element of my life.

I know in the grand scheme of things, this will improve every aspect of my life, from my focus and energy to my life expectancy. It will make me a healthier, happier person. It’s not going to be fun, but I’m going to do it anyway. Not only am I going to do it, but I’m also going to crush it. To top it all off, in the spirit of “If you do it: Document it,” I will be recapping the workout, my thoughts on it, the mental talk, and how I’m feeling after each session. So that, by the end of this next month, not only will I have re-established my workout habit, but I will have solidified my writing one as well.

Thus, I am setting out to change my life, one habit at a time. And for once, I am relying on discipline, not inspiration, to get me there.
